A Religion for White Racists Summary “Christian Identity” is the name of a religious movement uniting many of the white supremacist groups in the United States. Identity’s teachers promote racism and sometimes violence. Their roots are deeply embedded in movements such as the Ku Klux Klan and the Nazis. They consider themselves true Israel and view the Jews as half-devils and arch enemies. They believe all but the white race are inferior creations. Identity’s religious views are bizarre and occultic, and their view of history is often informed by conspiracy theories. Identity’s use of the name “Christian” to promote racism and violence is blasphemous.

Nov 26, · As we stop to give thanks (and eat lot’s of turkey!) I wanted to take a look at a prayer given by King David. Found in 1 Chronicles 29, David is getting things ready for Solomon to .
What might Paul have thought of the missional fads of post-evangelicalism? Lots of people will argue that Paul is the very model of a postmodern ministry strategist, and that Acts 17 is the classic narrative passage where we see his genius for cultural assimilation in all its perfect splendor. Let’s see how that chapter actually unfolds. At the start of it Acts As a result, the apostle can no longer minister publicly in Thessalonica without the threat of a riot.
So he goes to Berea under cover of night v. Berea is about forty miles inland from Thessalonica and not on a major trade route, so the plan might have been to go to the closest place where Paul might preach the gospel without quite so much deliberate opposition from Jewish leaders in the region. But when he arrived in Berea, he didn’t lay low and hide out or try to minister silently through lifestyle evangelism. He started proclaiming the gospel in the synagogue and the public square there, too.
However, Luke says, “when the Jews from Thessalonica learned that the Word of God was preached by Paul at Berea, they came there also and stirred up the crowds. Then immediately the brethren sent Paul away, to go to the sea; but both Silas and Timothy remained there” v. So Paul’s missionary team spirited him away into hiding yet again. He was clearly not winning general admiration and grass-roots popularity in the cultures where he was taking the gospel. People kept trying to kill him.

The earliest civilizations which influenced the development of western culture were those of Mesopotamia ; the area of the Tigris—Euphrates river system , largely corresponding to modern-day Iraq , northeastern Syria , southeastern Turkey and southwestern Iran: What we think of as Western thought today originates primarily from Greco-Roman and Germanic influences, and includes the ideals of the Middle Ages , the Renaissance , and the Enlightenment , as well as Christian culture.
Western culture is neither homogeneous nor unchanging.

Her most recent book, Feminine Threads: Women in the Tapestry of Christian History , exposes and celebrates the crucial role of women in the history of the Christian church. Lewis termed it, assuming that we today understand everything much more clearly than the unsophisticated people of previous centuries. On some subjects that assumption might work. On most, we might wisely practice more humility. Severance helps us do that.
Her book is full of snippets of stories and quotations that make the reader want to spend time delving into the original sources. Your book focuses on women in church history. Why is history—-and this particular history—-important for all of us in the church today? God is a God of history. The life, death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus are events central to all of history—-as seen in the commonly used dating system of B. Paul in his address on Mars Hill Acts 17 told the Athenians that the God who made us all so orders the boundaries and times of nations to bring people to himself.
In a way we cannot fully know now, God is working through nations and their histories to bring glory to his name. Looking especially at Christian women in history is important for several reasons.
The Old Black Church
Mark Driscoll resigned as leader pastor of Mars Hill Church, Seattle, on 14 October , despite the fact that the elders investigating his conduct do not believe him to be disqualified from pastoral ministry. While Mark Driscoll has rightfully been accused of shameful behaviour, the corrupt fruit of his ministry identifies him as a false teacher.
In August the board of Acts29, the church planting network founded by Mark Driscoll, expelled him, and his Mars Hill Church, from membership on grounds of his ungodly and disqualifying behaviour. Janet Mefferd, the prominent Christian radio show hostess, in her well argued article , makes an impassioned plea for true Christians, who understand the Word of God, who love the Lord Jesus, to withdraw from the flawed ministry of Pastor Mark Driscoll.
Previously hosting and support for my ministries came through my home church, Peninsula Bible Church and then through Ray Stedman Ministries. The change in my hosting and support channels in no way reflect any changes in my relationship with previous hosts.
They also discuss in graphic detail the questions that couples frequently ask them about the marital bed. The two-hundred plus pages of this book focus on personal testimony and practical teaching so that readers might walk in biblical holiness and avoid the pitfalls experienced by the Driscolls. Real Marriage reads like a marriage seminar that has been put into book form, and there are hints throughout that this is exactly what the book actually is e. Real Marriage has eleven chapters that are divided into three major sections: Their story is as gut-wrenching as it is honest.
Chapter 8 addresses the pervasive problem of pornography and its devastating impact on both the individuals who produce it and those who consume it. Chapter 10—which is probably the most controversial in the book—assesses the morality of a variety of sexual activities that spouses might engage in. It is less of a chapter per se than it is a workbook for a kind of self-directed marriage retreat.
The Bible: So Misunderstood It’s a Sin
Sue Bohlin provides a Christian view on feminism. How does this prevalent view of women measure up from a biblical perspective? The worldview of feminism has permeated just about every aspect of American life, education and culture.

We are grateful God has been committed to growing us up in relationship with him and each other. Every person pursuing marriage and married couple is in a phase of maturity and character development where they need godly instruction and encouragement. Without a strong vision of marriage from church leadership, people will turn elsewhere for their marital cues and cures.
Advice is superficial and sometimes dangerous information; it is unable to change hearts that long for something more. The Gospel offers transformation. When sin is exposed, grace can be applied. We all need to change. We want successful marriages but without a biblical framework, we end up loving ourselves more than our spouses.
As couples get exposed for who they are, they either fight against each other, or fight for each other through truth and repentance. Premarital couples are low hanging fruit, full of hope and anticipation, desiring strong marriages. They represent the future leaders and parents of our churches.

They fall on their knees, worshipping at the base of granite monuments to the Ten Commandments while demanding prayer in school. They appeal to God to save America from their political opponents, mostly Democrats. This is no longer a matter of personal or private faith. Climate change is said to be impossible because of promises God made to Noah; Mosaic law from the Old Testament directs American government; creationism should be taught in schools; helping Syrians resist chemical weapons attacks is a sign of the end times—all of these arguments have been advanced by modern evangelical politicians and their brethren, yet none of them are supported in the Scriptures as they were originally written.
Keep up with this story and more by subscribing now The Bible is not the book many American fundamentalists and political opportunists think it is, or more precisely, what they want it to be. Their lack of knowledge about the Bible is well established. The Barna Group, a Christian polling firm, found in that evangelicals accepted the attitudes and beliefs of the Pharisees—religious leaders depicted throughout the New Testament as opposing Christ and his message—more than they accepted the teachings of Jesus.
